Buying a car safely on GariHub
GariHub reviews listings and verifies sellers, but no marketplace can replace your own checks. These are the steps that prevent almost every common scam.
- 1
Never pay before you see the car
No deposit, no 'reservation fee', no mobile-money transfer before you have physically seen the vehicle and the seller.
- 2
Check the logbook against the seller
The name on the logbook should match the person selling. Ask for identification and confirm details independently.
- 3
Insist on an independent inspection
Use an inspector you choose, not one supplied by the seller. Inspection status shown on a listing is a signal, not a guarantee.
- 4
Confirm there is no outstanding finance
A vehicle with an unreleased lien cannot be transferred cleanly. Confirm before money changes hands.
- 5
Be sceptical of prices well below market
Suspicious pricing is the most common fraud signal. GariHub flags outliers for moderation review.
- 6
Meet in daylight, in public
Prefer a dealership, a bank or a busy public place for viewing and payment.
- 7
Report anything suspicious
Reporting a listing opens a moderation case. Repeated complaints affect a seller's standing on GariHub.
On verification badges
GariHub badges reflect checks our team has actually completed. We never fabricate official government verification results, and we will only describe an integration as live once it has been configured and tested.
